Deli item hurled by activist reportedly exploded and left mustard stain on immigration officer, legal proceedings reveal

A person, who was later arrested for allegedly assaulting police officers with a food item, interacts with immigration and federal officers.

A US immigration agent has declared in court he could sense through his ballistic vest the impact of a food product thrown at him by a capital city activist, who has faced court proceedings for criminal charge.

Customs and Border Patrol agent the government official informed the jury the sandwich "shattered all over him" and he "could smell the aromatic vegetables and yellow sauce" on his work clothing.

No party disputes that Sean Dunn, 37, did in fact hurl obscenities and a prepared food item at law enforcement sent by the former president to monitor the federal district in late summer.

The event was filmed on video and became popular online, making the accused a symbol of opposition in Washington DC to the administration.

Federal attorneys originally tried to achieve major offense allegations against Mr Dunn, but a judicial committee chose not to charge him.

The administration's sending of armed forces to the federal district this season sparked outrage from some of the DC citizens, who considered it a politicisation of the armed forces.

Per legal filings, the defendant approached a police contingent at about 11 PM on August 10, referring to them "extremists" and exclaiming: "Why are you present? I don't want you in my city!"

The trial saw a re-enactment from Mr Lairmore on the court date as he took the stand against Mr Dunn.

"I detected it through my body armor," he said of the sandwich's impact, noting that an vegetable piece remained from his police radio and condiment marked his uniform.

The defendant's attorney, the defense attorney, argued in her initial argument that launching the food item was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, create physical damage".

But government attorney the prosecutor maintained the accused must be considered responsible.

"Whatever your status, you can't just go around hurling objects at others because you're upset," the attorney declared.

Following the reported incident was revealed, Mr Dunn was fired from his position as a law firm employee in the federal legal agency.
